Hi, my name is Liz Hunter and I am the minister with pastoral responsibility for St Helier Methodist Centre (SHMC). I have been in
Jersey since 2004. It is a beautiful place to live and work but like anywhere comes with its challenges as well as its rewards. The very nature of island life means it can be frustrating when the fog comes down and you’re waiting at the airport to fly off somewhere but it is also that remoteness that creates a sense of close community and family living - something that is reflected in the life of the church. The fellowship at SHMC is very caring and compassionate, open to new ideas and always welcoming to visitors.
We strive to listen to God and to one another so that all that we do is a reflection of His love for us in Jesus. We don’t always ‘hit the mark’ but that’s what being human is all about and we continue to do all we can to bring the gospel into the everyday lives of the church fellowship, the local community and the wider world. This is an exciting time to be a disciple of Christ, a Christian, and hopefully our worship and day to day church life reflects that.
